"In Stillwater Bridge, I wanted to capture the idea of a wondrous, relaxing place. A painting that would invite the admirer to take a leisurely, much needed stroll along this calming stream and leave the hustle and bustle of the 'real world' far behind.
I hope that this, the first piece in my Sweetheart Gardens collection, brings to you the same feeling of peacefulness that it has brought to me."
- Thomas Kinkade's Studio Journal, 1998
The Lord is my Shepherd;
I shall not be in want.
He makes me to lie down in green Pastures;
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul...The cooling, tranquil feeling of resting beside still waters ... what trouble or pain could not be hushed by such moments? And yet, in the rushing of our lives, each of us at time seems to prefer the raging torrents to the quiet brook -- why else wouldn't we seek daily those waters that are still? Perhaps that's why we need a shepherd. Who else loves his sheep enough to gently lead them to pastures green and waters tranquil?
The first piece in my Sweetheart Gardens collection, Stillwater Bridge is an attempt to portray waters that are still and inviting. I hope that you can linger a moment of two!
