Thomas Kinkade, Painter of Light

The Thomas Kinkade Archive Collection

Days of Peace
18 x 24" (Please see pricing schedule)

This is a studio painting, created out of the artist's reading and a lot of imagination. But we also note some of the freedom and assurance of Kinkade's famed Plein Air works. The distant peaks in Days of Peace resemble those the young painter saw in the Cascades and Rockies on a trans-continental artistic "Hobo's hoist" in 1980. The "hoist" produced a celebrated book on drawing and a lifelong fascination with painting on location.

"The Blackfoot Indians, whose splendidly decorated teepees dotted the northern plains, have long been a special favorite of mine," Kindkade reflects. "They lived among the same mountains I came to know in my travels. Their stately teepees even appear to have been inspired by snow-capped peaks and towering pines."
